Product Description |
When seeing your targets clearly is the goal, the Garmin Fishfinder 140 marine GPS is the one tool you need on your next fishing expedition. With 240 vertical pixels on a four level grayscale display, you get better separation and contrast so you'll know exactly where you're most likely to make the perfect catch. Like all of the new Garmin fishfinders, the 140 features Ultrascroll for fast screen updates, which is ideal for speed-based applications. This system also has a minimal amount of buttons and offers intuitive operation, so you'll spend less time learning how to use the Fishfinder 140, and more time reaping the fishing rewards. You won't even have to leave the sonar screen to change settings, thanks to a convenient adjustment bar. Designed to give you fast and clear information when you need it, the Fishfinder 140's new sounder design features excellent shallow water performance, including a patented transom/trolling mount, dual-beam transducer with user-selectable narrow (14 degrees) or wide (45 degrees) views to help you see more fish in shallow water, while the automatic display re-scaling on range change means no more vertical lines obscuring your readings. For added convenience, the power down backup feature ensures that your settings will not be lost when the unit is turned off. The Fishfinder 140 offers additional features, including a 2X and 4X automatic and manual zoom, 600 foot depth, and technology that shows weak and strong returns simultaneously, that make it easy and fun to find the perfect catch. And thanks to alarms for fish size, shallow water, deep water, and low battery (so your Fishfinder will never suddenly run out of power without warning), you'll have an informed advantage that will pay off in better fish stories than ever before. What's in the Box Fishfinder 140, transom mount transducer with integrated power cable, mounting bracket with tilt/swivel, and owner's manual.

Better than expected

I didn't expect much for the price I paid, but was pleasently surprised. The screen is very easy to read, and the automatic features actually work without being fine tuned. Far and away the nicest feature about this unit is the dual beam transducer. It has great accuracy not only under the boat, but off to the sides. Lastly the option of mounting the transducer to the trolling motor without having to buy an adapter was icing on the cake.
Great budget B&W fish finder

I purchased this a while back and was using it on my small boat for estuary fishing. I have since upgraded to a Garmin 300C color unit but I am having problems with getting a good reading from it. I am almost thinking of going back to the FF140! It has a nice large screen, good clarity and I had no trouble identifying features despite its grayscale screen. Menus were easy to operate and it simply worked very well. Its definitely one of the better budget B&W fish finders ont he market today in my opinion.
Great Garmin Gear

This is by far the best fishfinder in the price range. This is a VERY durable product, I love the low energy comsumption. I found it pretty straight forward to use and don't need to carry the manual around. The resolution is good, screen is viewable in daylight and the readings seem accurate. It has already made a diffrence in our fishing.
Nice inexpensive dephfinder

I purchased this unit as a secondary dephfinder on my fishing boat. I was curious to see how it would compare to my other dephfinder that cost twice as much (not a Garmin). The Garmin works just as well, and in some cases better than the other brand that cost more. I am very satisfied with this unit especially considering the price. This one even tells me the depth when I'm motoring full speed across the water (20 mph). The more expensive one on my boat does not tell me depth at full speed. This is a great unit for the money.

I previously sold and installed marine electronics so I know the Garmin sells a good product. This product will last if you keep it out of the weather.
Garmin Fishfinder 140

For the money, this fish finder works great. Installation is fairly simple. The lead wire could have a plug-in so as to be able to run through installed wire chases.
Great depth finder for shallow water

I use this primarily as a depth finder, instead of a fishfinder. I got it because Garmin claims it reads depth accurately in shallow water. I am really pleased with it. It is very accurate and doesn't flake out like an older Piranha Max unit I had previously. Also a great price.
Works Great!

This model (FF 140) is an entry level fish finder, but it does everything I need for a day of fishing. It has a very large read-out screen. The specs say the screen is 4", but it is actually 4.7" when measured diagonally (the way ALL screens are measured).
I use it in the Harbor (saltwater) and in the local lakes (fresh water) and it has never failed to show me everything I need to know whether anchored, drifting or going 30 M.P.H.
I highly recommend Garmin. I bought Garmin because I heard nothing but bad things about Hummingbird finders. I'm glad I bought Garmin. |
